Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better
Most of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are bad and should be avoided. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this is very true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be altogether healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that really can raise your moods when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, test out a few of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you battle depression. Just make sure that you don’t throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, particularly the egg yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Consume an egg and feel happier!
Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all wonderful for elevating your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel all the time. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you will feel. Nuts, in addition to raising your mood, can be a superb source of protein.
If you would like to battle depression, try eating some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all loaded with omega-3 and DHA. These are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight back depression.
Some grains are actually great for repelling bad moods. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all excellent for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to make your mood better. Feeling hungry can truly make you feel awful! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Green tea is actually great for your mood. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid called L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you be better. And now you are aware that it can help improve your mood too!
So you see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try a couple of of these hints instead.
