Turn to Food to Improve Your Mood

Many of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we ought to keep away from them. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be altogether nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. Several foods honestly do elevate your mood when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, you might be astonished to learn, are wonderful at battling depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you boost your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–run better. Consume an egg and jolly up!

Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all helpful for raising your mood. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given moment. The higher your levels of serotonin, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can really help you battle your depression.

Grains can be wonderful for fighting a terrible mood. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you be happier. They help you feel full as well which can really help to make your mood better. Feeling hungry can be awful! These grains can improve your mood as it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Your mood could really be helped by green tea. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is found to be packed full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This helps better your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you become healthier. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood also!

You can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try a few of these hints instead.
