Peel and cut daikon, carrots, bok choy and potatoes into big cubes. Boil the daikon for a few minutes to lighten the smell and taste. Add daikon, shiitake, lotus seed and carrots into the pot with the pork hock. Remove hocks, cool and take meat off bones.

The ingredients needed to make Pork hock vege stew:
  1. Prepare 1 kg Pork hock
  2. Get Potato
  3. Make ready 1 White Radish (Daikon)
  4. Make ready 2 Carrots
  5. Make ready 5 Shiitake mushrooms
  6. Take 1 handful Lotus seed
  7. Take Sliced Lotus root
  8. Get 2 good size Bok Choys
  9. Take Salt

Move the pork into a slow/pressure cooker and fill water to cover the pork. Cover pork hocks with water, add chopped onion, garlic powder, allspice, salt and pepper. Remove hocks, cool and take meat off bones. Slow Cook Pork Hock Stew or Slow Cooked Pata is something that I look forward to during weekends, especially on chilly days.

Steps to make Pork hock vege stew:
  1. In a large pot, boil the pork hock until bubbly. Drain the water and clean the pork thoroughly under cold water. Do this step TWICE.
  2. Move the pork into a slow/pressure cooker and fill water to cover the pork. If you don't have one, just use a large pot.
  3. If you use dried Shiitake, rinse and soak them with hot water.
  4. Peel and cut daikon, carrots, bok choy and potatoes into big cubes.
  5. Boil the daikon for a few minutes to lighten the smell and taste.
  6. Add daikon, shiitake, lotus seed and carrots into the pot with the pork hock.
  7. Add 1 table spoon of salt.
  8. If you use slow cooker, set it to 2h. If you use pressure cooker, cook for 30-45mins until the pork is soft. If you use normal pot, bring the pot to boil and shimmer for 2h.
  9. Put the potatoes, lotus root and bok choy in, stir a little for them to be soaked in stock and cook for another 1 hour if you use slow cooker or pot; 15-20mins or until the potatoes are soft if you use pressure cooker.
  10. Serve with rice, bread, egg noodle or just by itself if you put a lot of potatoes in.

Remove hocks, cool and take meat off bones. Slow Cook Pork Hock Stew or Slow Cooked Pata is something that I look forward to during weekends, especially on chilly days. This dish is simply pork pata (or pork legs) that are slow cooked with potatoes, carrots, tomato sauce and spices. It is a perfect lunch treat that I like to have with rice or crackers. In a small bowl, whisk broth and tomato paste; pour over vegetables.

If you would like to beat depression, try eating some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly elevate your mood.

It’s not hard to drive away your bad mood when you eat grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all good for helping you feel happier. These grains can help you feel full for longer also, which can help your mood too. Feeling starved can really make you feel terrible! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your blood sugar which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in a particular amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously calming your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you be better. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood as well!
