  18. Take 2 clove garlic thinly sliced and gently fried for garnish. Do not burn as it will take on a bitter taste

Add the garlic and cook for a minute. Stir in the tomato paste and cook a minute more. Add the vegetable broth, remaining salt, soy sauce, marmite (if you're using it), bay leaf, and thyme. In a braiser or medium soup pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
