Foods That Make Your Mood Better
Mostly, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and should be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. Some foods actually do raise your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you combat depression. You need to see to it, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try to eat an egg and feel happier!
Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for improving your mood. This is possible because these foods have a bunch of magnesium which raises your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel all the time. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific source of protein.
If you wish to battle depression, try eating some cold water fish. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight depression.
Grains can be excellent for overcoming a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really wonderful for helping boost your happiness levels. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods as well. Feeling starved can actually bring you down! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest and process. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your blood sugar which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you become better. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods too!
As you can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Try some of these instead!
