Foods That Can Make You Happy
Mostly, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and must be avoided. However, if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be extremely healthy and good for you. Several foods actually do raise your mood when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, you might be astonished to learn, are terrific at combating depression. You should make sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to boost your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that dictate your mood. Eat an egg and cheer up!
Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for improving your mood. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which promotes serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Nuts, along with elevating your mood, can be a super source of protein.
Cold water fish are great if you would like to feel happier. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.
Grains can be great for driving away a bad mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are excellent at helping you feel happier. These foods can help you feel full for longer too, helping you feel better. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel hungry! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s easy for your body to digest them. You digest these foods more quickly than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Green tea is actually great for your mood. You were simply waiting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while at the same time relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you become a lot healthier. Now you know green tea can help improve your mood also!
See, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
