A lot of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are bad and to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all great for helping to boost your mood. This is possible as these foods are high in magnesium which boosts your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more you have of it, the happier you will feel. Not only that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific protein food source.
Cold water fish are great if you wish to be in a better mood. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all rich in omega-3 fats and DHA. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you battle your depression.
It’s easy to fight your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. Feeling hungry can be terrible! These grains can improve your mood as it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your blood glucose which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.
Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea is packed full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while also relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know that it helps you to lift your moods also!
As you can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you just so to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
